Endovenous Laser

A new technique in the horizon, for treatment of varicose veins. The word LASER sells in the market. Majority of patients are not even aware of what laser is and what it does to the vein. The selection of patients for treatment by Laser or Radiofrequency is the deciding factor in the outcome of the result. Not all patients are suitable for this treatment. Both methods use heat energy to burn the vein from inside.

The recurrence rates are variable from center to center from 7 to 10%.

The main use of Endovenous abalation is, it avoids surgical stripping of Long Saphenous vein (LSV). Branch varicocities can never be abalated using this techniques. One needs to either surgically remove or use Sclerosant.

Best results are achieved by using a combination treatment of ablation with avulsions or sclerotherapy.
