Deep Vein Thrombosis

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a condition in which blood clots form in a vein deep within the body. The word thrombosis means forming a blood clot. The clot itself is called a thrombus. Deep vein thrombosis if not treated early can lead to sudden death due to pulmonary embolism. Inappropriate treatment leads to potential complication of Post thrombotic leg syndrome.

One of the major causes of morbidity in patience with varicose veins & post thrombotic leg syndrome. This ulcer requires very aggressive line of treatment. Healing of wound is achieved by doing four layer bandaging, followed by corrective venous surgery.

A congenital condition which can affect any part of the body but mainly seen involving the extremities. It is present since birth but can manifest later in life especially during the teens. The treatment is difficult and times there is no cure if it is extensive and involving the whole limb. Sclerotherapy and surgical excision can be done for localized venous malformation.
